Global warming

Global warming is the increase in the average temperature of the Earth's near-surface air and oceans since the mid-twentieth century and its projected continuation. If this problem isn’t solved over the next couple years it will be a huge problem to the earth.

The climate is changing. The earth is warming up, and there is now overwhelming scientific consensus that it is happening, and human-induced (www.globalissues.org). With global warming on the increase and species and their habitats on the decrease, chances for ecosystems to adapt naturally are diminishing. Many are agreed that climate change may be one of the greatest threats facing the planet. Recent years show increasing temperatures in various regions, and/or increasing extremities in weather patterns. This section looks at what causes climate change, what the impacts are and where scientific consensus currently is. (wikipedia.org). some people think that global warming is about cutting trees and using more cars. Most people don’t have the knowledge about global warming.

There are many different ways and solutions to prevent global warming. First of all we have to educate people so they have more information about global warming. After education, people will be aware about it and will try to reduce their carbon footprint. Second of all, Co2 emissions should be reduced from cars, industries and cities. We also should reduce the use of fossil fuels. Moreover, there are many solutions provided by companies and countries, for example cool city which is mainly a 1-km in diameter city which will have more environmental housing and resources. “Cool Cities not only bring real solutions at local levels they also showcase solutions for others to model and build leadership to ensure solutions are implemented at state levels and nationwide”(www.coolcities.com).

In my opinion, I think people are overacting about global warming; they say we need to reduce the co2 emissions; our carbon foot print ….etc. But they don’t do anything about it; they just talk for their picture in the media and some of them talk because of some political reason. Moreover, I think I need to try to reduce my carbon footprint. Also, I think that most of the solutions are for short term but these solutions will not help the people and earth in the long term so we need more solutions for the long term that can provide us with some new cities like the cool city so the people could live in a clean city. However we should decrease the prices so the normal people can live in it.

Cool city

Since the start of the industrial revolution we are experiencing a huge increase in economic development and due to this increase there are problems such as traffic congestion, population pressure and energy consumption. If these problems aren’t solved as soon as possible we need to find another planet to live there; to solve this problem we have to decrease the amount of carbon dioxide emitted into the air by 50% so we can live in the earth. In Japan during the last 30 years GDP has doubled while energy efficiency has increased by 37% and oil consumption has decreased by 8%. 90% of carbon dioxide emitted into the air comes from buildings, which is 55% and 35% from transportation.

Cool city is an environmental-friendly city which is developed by SDCJ in Japan and they will build environmental cities in the Gulf region. The cities will be linked with a public transportation system that will be using solar water taxis, hybrid-cars and light-rail transit. The cities contain three main zones, residential, commercial and business. The cities will use various techniques to reduce heat like tree planting, water channels and wind power. They expect CO2 reduction from two types of buildings eco tower and eco residential which both of them will reduce CO2 by 80%; finally the overall percentage of CO2 reduction will reach 60 %.

My opinion:
In my opinion I think they must build more environmental cities because it decreases the CO2 level that is emitted from building. Also, I think that the environmental cities are not the only solutions for this problem. All the world must agree on the Kyota agreement so they all reduce their CO2 emissions.
